Alleviation: A Day of Healing & An Evening of Live Music –
Alleviation is the action or process of making suffering, deficiency or a problem less severe and we believe that music, creation, talking, participation and expression can be helpful and therapeutic methods to alleviate our earthly woes. With the intention of improving mental health and reducing suicide and self-harm in the Richmondshire region we have put together this special occasion in association with Caleidoscope Counselling to help make a difference in our local community.
The event will be split into two halves, starting with A Day of Healing from 12pm – 6pm. During this time there will be free, confidential one to one counselling drop-in sessions available. There will also be music therapy group sessions taking place over the afternoon; working in the realms of Mindfulness, Relaxation, Songwriting for Therapy and more. A schedule will follow on the run up to the event. There will also be additional information available from other organisations and services which can offer support.
An Evening of Live Music will follow from 7pm – late, showcasing a range of live music acts displaying creativity and expression as a positive form of outlet for processing mental health conditions. The music aims to inspire, uplift and bring people together.
These events are free to attend and there is no need to book. All are welcome.
>>>>> WACO ☮️
London-based cosmic punk rockers WACO (pronounced wake-oh) headline the event ahead of the release of their forthcoming debut album Human Magic! The record has been an extremely intense journey for the band, but one that will offer solace upon release. Having lost bass player Chris late last year – they have continued to persevere and represent their comrade, making this a highly meaningful booking for us all to hear live. With frontman Jak Hutchcraft being raised in the town, this will be a special homecoming – not to be missed!

>>>>> Rosey PM 🌺
Richmond singer songwriter, based in Sheffield – Rosey PM creates dazzling DIY dream pop with tinges of psychedelic soul and pyjama jazz. Having released three EPs on Sheffield/Manchester label Blancmange Lounge including last years After School Club (recorded locally at Aske Estate!) – she has gained a successful online following and has performed with many credible acts! We warmly welcome her back to the Mond – this time accompanied by her super-cool, moonbathing live band!
FFO: Amy Winehouse // Cat Power // Mazzy Star // Fiest
>>>>> Faithful Johannes 🎹
Spoken word electro from Durham – FJ creates homemade electronic beats that accompany his unique poetry. The front man from barley rap duo Outside Your House has had quite the year, playing some key slots – including a sold out show supporting Onsind in Newcastle and Hardwick Live where he astonished folks on the BBC Introducing stage. His long awaited debut album ‘Thrills & Bills’ is out via Win Big Records this October and we’re delighted to have him involved!
FFO: Open Mike Eagle // New Order // Serengeti // Advance Base
Richmond singer-songwriter John Stainthorp blends country and folk influences to craft beautifully soulful, uplifting and at times delicate songs. His wonderful debut album ‘Into The Light’ was released late last year via Butterfly Effect – the record touches on themes of depression – emotional in parts, it is a joyful, upbeat listen. Fresh from festival appearances at Richmond Live & Last Train Home, John will be opening the Evening of Live Music backed by his live band, The Laughing Hearts – consisting of local lads George Parkes, Maltz & Paul Charlton. Get down early!
FFO: Fionn Regan // The Staves // Willy Mason // Bright Eyes
Twisted junkyard poet and Richmond native Rantin Richie will be our host for the evening – introducing the bands and performing some poetry between acts
