Ann Henderson on ‘Selina Cooper and Keld’

Swaledale Museum | The Green | DL11 6TX

08-08-2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Selina Cooper (1864 – 1946) was an English suffragist and the first woman Independent Labour Party candidate for the local Poor law Board of Guardians in 1901. She was instrumental in opening a ‘holiday retreat’ in Keld which opened in 1899 as a ‘Spartan centre at 18s per week’. This talk will contribute to our knowledge of this undertaking and of Selina’s connection with Swaledale in the context of her wider work.
Friends of the Museum £4.00. Visitors £5.00. All welcome. Advance booking recommended.
