BROADRAKE – Photographing the Night Sky with Pete CollinsBroadrake | Chapel-le-Dale Ingleton | LA6 3AX
February 18 @ 7:00 pm - 10:30 pm
As part of the Yorkshire Dales Dark Skies Festival, Pete Collins will give a talk about how to capture the stars and foreground detail in the night skies using your DSLR camera, or maybe one of the better mobile phone cameras that allows manual settings, and exposures of 30 secs.
We will follow this with a trip outside to put the theory into practice, and plan to walk across to Ribblehead Viaduct, just 40 mins walk with opportunities for some shots along the way, or an 8 mins drive if your photography gear is too heavy to carry! A great opportunity to capture this iconic structure as foreground to the stars above which are stunning in the very dark skies of Chapel-le-Dale.
Please wrap up very warm; it can be chilly in the clear night air at 1000′. Bring your camera along with a tripod, otherwise binoculars for simply star-gazing.
If the skies are not clear, then Pete will have a video lined up to show after a break for refreshments.
This event will be the February Monday night meeting for the local Ingleton Stargazers group.
Refreshments will be available before & after the talk, and after outside photography sessions to warm up again!
