A sense of Selfie, portraiture and telling your tale through Photography. Creative and fun, learn about the art of selfie, before learning to use a camera to take your own portraits.

A series of workshops for young people, aged 11-16. The workshops enable young people to engage in the Arts in new and contemporary ways. Great for those looking to learn new creative skills, build a portfolio, learn new skills, have fun and meet new friends. Photography is a strong and visually engaging topic for pupils of art.

By the end of the lesson pupils should have a basic understanding of what a portrait is and how to create one. We will start by looking at the Selfie through the ages. Then going onto a practical lesson in learning how to use a camera, and become proficient in its functions. Using filters, working in natural and artificial light. Next we create a fun character to take a portrait of, each participant has the chance to create their own. Now we’ve taken photographs of our characters we need to tell their tales.

The workshop will work with text and image. This two day workshop enables a chance to learn techniques of collage, photo montage and more!
