An illustrated talk based on 18th century records by historian Marion Moverley about the fraught journeys taken by young people to find work in London, over 250 miles from the Yorkshire Dales. Many became extremely successful, establishing businesses and careers that added a new dimension to the lives of their families at home in Yorkshire. Part of the Friends of the Museum annual lecture programme. Free – donations welcome.
