Richmondshire Youth Theatre Presents – Last Dance of a Dalesman by Nobby DimonDales Countryside Museum | Station Yard Hawes | DL8 3NT
May 18 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
It’s the summer of 1953 and Britain is changing. We have a new Queen, Everest has been conquered, the Korean War has ended. Young people are gaining an identity with fashion and music and we see the rise of modern technology. But in the Dales, things seem to be as before, apart from the establishment of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, an event that has been highly debated by the locals. Our story begins as the coffin of Dan Ottershaw is being carried down Swaledale towards Grinton Church. Dan’s wish was for his final journey to follow the ancient Corpse Way, but the funeral party are beginning to think that this is one ancient event that should have been left firmly in the past.
‘Last Dance of a Dalesman’ is the Richmondshire community play written by talented local playwright Nobby Dimon of North Country Theatre. The cast of this production are from Richmondshire Youth Theatre, who provide high quality youth theatre opportunities within the Dales. This production is funded by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authorities Sustainable Development Fund and supported by the Dales Countryside Museum.
