Steam over Shap

Exhibitions  and events at Shap in Cumbria, CA10 3NL to mark the 175th anniversary of the commencement of construction of the Lancaster & Carlisle Railway.

At The Heritage Centre – Railway archive including records, images and recollections.

At the Old Courthouse – Railway art, photography, hand-built static models and artefacts.  Artists exhibiting include Alan Gunston, David French, Nicholas Leigh, Christine Pulham and James Roberts plus artwork on loan from individuals.

Open daily but times vary;  Sat 10am – 4pm, Sun 2-5pm,

Mon 10am -2pm, Tue 2-5pm, Wed 12-2pm,  Thu 2-5pm, Fri 2-5pm

Sat 10th August   Talk – The story of the railway over Shap Fell

Sun 18th Aug – Model Railway Exhibition

Mon 19th – Talk by Stephenson Locomotive Society with images from the Percy Duff collection

Sat 24th Aug – A guided walk around railway sites of interest in Shap

Sun 1st Sept- Evening of music and readings celebrating or railway heritage
