Stonebeck Cheese Open Farm WeekendLow Riggs Farm | Middlesmoor | HG3 5TA
September 15 @ 11:00 am - 3:30 pm
Experience the story of Stonebeck Raw Wensleydale Cheese during this free guided walk and tour of Andrew and Sally Hattan’s remote upland farm at the top of Nidderdale.
Taking inspiration from their farm’s heritage, Andrew and Sally have developed a raw milk farmhouse cheese using milk from their herd of Northern Dairy Shorthorn cows, a rare breed native to the Yorkshire Dales.
The cheese is made by hand, pressed and bound in calico before maturing. The taste and texture are an expression of the farm and place: soft and creamy with long, complex and layered flavour.
The visit includes a 3.5 mile round trip guided walk from How Stean Gorge, one of Nidderdale’s most stunning locations, through Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to Low Riggs Farm at Middlesmoor. There, Sally and Andrew will lead a guided tour of the farm, cows, and cheese making process. Free cheese samples provided!
Refreshments and cheese will also be available to purchase!
