The Howgill Fells and Smardale. Guided WalkRavenstonedale | | CA17 4NG
A full day guided walk a part of a small group of no more than six people plus your friendly, professional guide to explore the beautiful range of green hills known as The Howgills, and the pretty countryside surrounding them.
From the village of Ravonstonedale, we walk up into the hills to the high points of Green Bell (605m) and Randygill Top (615m). If it is a clear day, we’ll enjoy wonderful panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. We then descend along a broad, grassy ridge that is known as Hooksey. The last few miles of the walk are lower level on country lanes and tracks, plus footpaths over fields including a crossing of Smardale Bridge which is on the Coast to Coast footpath route.
This is a hilly walk of about 11 miles/18km with approx. 665 metres of ascent over grassy terrain, some of which is pathless. It can be quite hard going, and a bit boggy in places.
Proper hiking boots and outdoor clothing are essential. Young people under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Sorry, no dogs.
Advance booking and payment are required please through the web link.
