A 1½ mile (2.4km) guided walk in search of the charming Red Squirrels of Wensleydale. Join us on a search for tracks and signs of local wildlife, ending at the Snaizeholme Red Squirrel view point. Find out how we have managed to protect and record the squirrels both here and elsewhere in the Yorkshire Dales National Park over recent years. This is a must for wildlife spotters and photographers. Don’t forget your binoculars, if you own a pair. It will be an afternoon to remember! This walk has plenty of stops but does include a section of steep ground on an uneven footpath, because the walk is a ‘there and back again route’ this steep slope has to be walked both downhill and uphill. Please contact Hawes National Park Centre if you might find this part of the walk difficult or if you have a disability or health condition and would like more details. This is a 1½ mile (2.4km) guided walk in search of the charming Red Squirrels of Wensleydale and other wildlife. Join us on a search for tracks and signs of local wildlife, ending at the Snaizeholme Red Squirrel view point. Find out how we have managed to protect and record the squirrels both here and elsewhere in the Yorkshire Dales National Park over recent years. This is a must for wildlife spotters and photographers. Don’t forget your binoculars, if you own a pair. It will be an afternoon to remember!

Love bats? Come on a short walk looking for bats around Grassington with Tony from our wildlife team. We will walk down to the river and around the village to discover where our bats like to fly and to learn more about these wonderful animals.

Please bring a torch as we will be walking on uneven ground in the dark, and be prepared to stand around outside. This event will be cancelled in the event of wet weather and high winds.

A level 1 YDNPA walk. The route is barrier free, but will include walking in the dark, children must be well supervised.

Join us for the Year of Green action and lend our rangers a helping hand!

Join one of our Rangers for a practical conservation day, and experience for yourself the work they do to look after our stunning National Park countryside.

We supply the tools – you do the work! all you need is lots of enthusiasm, an adult to do your work come with you, a drink and a packed lunch. Expect to get dirty!

These days involve the use of tools; they are suitable for children aged 8 and over.

All children must bring a responsible adult to share the fun (up to three children can share one adult) Children £5, adults with children free (each child can bring up to two adults free).

Join Wildlife Conservation Officer Ian Court for a short walk to Malham Cove to learn about the success of the peregrine falcons nesting at there. Hopefully, you will see these magnificent birds, the fastest creatures on earth, flying to and from their nests on the cliff. RSPB and YDNPA volunteers will have telescopes to help you get the most from your visit.

A level 1 YDNPA walk on good footpaths with no barriers, this walk is suitable for all terrain wheelchairs with one or two uphill sections. There is some road walking. Please wear outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather and sturdy footwear with good grips.

This activity will run twice; 10.00 – 12.00 and 15.00  – 17.00.   Both sessions are the same.

A level 3 YDNPA walk on good paths with one section over rocks near Janet’s Foss. There is one short climb, step stiles and steps down the side of Malham Cove.

A 1½ mile (2.4km) guided walk in search of the charming Red Squirrels of Wensleydale. Join us on a search for tracks and signs of local wildlife, ending at the Snaizeholme Red Squirrel view point. Find out how we have managed to protect and record the squirrels both here and elsewhere in the Yorkshire Dales National Park over recent years. This is a must for wildlife spotters and photographers. Don’t forget your binoculars, if you own a pair. It will be an afternoon to remember!

This walk has plenty of stops but does include a section of steep ground on an uneven footpath, because the walk is a ‘there and back again route’ this steep slope has to be walked both downhill and uphill. Please contact Hawes National Park Centre if you might find this part of the walk difficult or if you have a disability or health condition and would like more details. Sturdy shoes or wellies recommended .

This activity will run twice; 10.30 – 13.00 and 14.00  – 16.30.   Both sessions are the same.

No dogs (assistance dogs welcome)

Join one of our Rangers for a practical conservation day, and experience for yourself the work they do to look after our stunning National Park countryside.

We supply the tools – you do the work! all you need is lots of enthusiasm, an adult to do your work come with you, a drink and a packed lunch. Expect to get dirty!

These days involve the use of tools; they are suitable for children aged 8 and over.

All children must bring a responsible adult to share the fun (up to three children can share one adult) Children £5, adults with children free (each child can bring up to two adults free).

Please wear old clothes (you will get muddy!) and strong shoes or boots. (we have waterproofs and boots available for you to borrow)
